From the streets to the studio | William Marungi
Talent is the foundation of every person’s life. It’s the one thing that doesn’t require money to have. It’s a gift, and like bait, it can draw opportunities to you when you know how to use it right.
William Marungi had his life shaped by pain, struggle, and the incredible power of resilience. William is the son of Engineer Marungi, a man who tragically lost his life to a bullet in 1988. His father’s death was not an accident; it was the result of economic interests and betrayal by those closest to him, his best friend shot him.
At just five years old, William never heard his father’s voice again. His heart ached with a pain so deep, it’s something he’s still trying to come to terms with today. The property of his father was inherited to his uncles, leaving William and his mother with nothing. By the time he was 10, William’s mother also passed away, leaving him to face the harsh realities of life alone.
Without the protection of his parents, William’s life became a constant struggle for survival. He had to move from one relative’s house to another, never knowing stability or peace.
In the midst of all this, William still dreamed. He dreamed of becoming an engineer, of building a life and career that would honor his father’s legacy. “After my parents died, my life changed completely,” William says. “I was moved from one school to another, sometimes I couldn’t go to school at all. I had no one to support me, so I ended up on the streets. I would pick up plastic cans, sell them, just to get enough food for the day. That was my life.”
But despite the setbacks, William had something that money couldn’t buy, a talent for music. The turning point came along one day when a music producer saw something in William that others couldn’t, he saw potential. He offered William the chance to learn music production, and soon, William was deeply immersed in the world of arts and entertainment.
William is working on the Legacy of Adam as sound mixer and a studio engineer. He recorded one of the first songs for the film, “to die”. Before this he attended the casting for acting, and since he had talent for acting as well, he was admitted. He has played the roles of Adam, David, Joseph and Jesus. But William’s journey doesn’t end with the arts. He has built a family of his own, with a wife and five children. He’s a father who listens, who understands the challenges children face, and who encourages open dialogue with them. He’s become a friend to the younger generation, showing them that with talent, there is hope.
William’s story is a testament to the power of talent. Though he faced unimaginable hardships, he never gave up on his dreams. Talent is not just about singing or acting; it’s about finding the unique abilities that lie within you and using them to create a better future.
